Taal is one of the world's strangest volcanoes: a vast prehistoric eruption left a
25-kilometre caldera that filled with water to become Taal Lake. In its centre rose
Volcano Island, the active vent, which itself holds the Main Crater Lake.
Inside that lake sits Vulcan Point, a 40-metre rock completing the riddle: an island
in a lake on an island in a lake on an island. The high rim to the north is
Tagaytay Ridge, the ancient caldera wall.
Built live in your browser from real data: NASA SRTM elevation (Mapzen terrarium tiles
from AWS) decoded pixel-by-pixel and displaced at true horizontal scale, draped with Esri
World Imagery, plus a finer ~5 m/px imagery inset over Volcano Island. Vulcan Point sits
below SRTM's 30 m resolution, so it is reconstructed at its true coordinates.

bathymetric dataset covers Taal Lake, so the underwater relief is modeled from
distance-to-shore scaled to published maximum depths (lake ≈180 m, crater lake ≈85 m).
